Superior Wireless Performance
The SonicPoint Series models — SonicPoint ACe, SonicPoint ACi and SonicPoint N2 — provide high-speed wireless access with enhanced signal quality and reliability from greater range. With support for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards, the SonicPoint Series enables the use of bandwidth-intensive mobile apps, such as HD video and voice, in higher density environments without signal degradation.

Comprehensive Security
The SonicPoint Series integrates with SonicWall next-generation firewalls to create a secure wireless solution that delivers comprehensive protection for wired and wireless networks. Using Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection technology, SonicWall firewalls scan all wireless traffic coming into and going out of the wireless network and eliminate threats, such as malware and intrusions.

Easy Setup
SonicPoint wireless access points are simple to deploy into a new or existing network. SonicWall SuperMassive, E-Class NSA, NSA and TZ Series firewalls feature an integrated wireless controller that automatically detects and configures SonicPoints across the network. SonicPoints also have a plenum-rated chassis for safe installation in a wide variety of environments.

Centralized Management
SonicPoint wireless access points work together with a SonicWall firewall to offer a single pane of glass for wireless management and monitoring, lowering the total cost of infrastructure ownership. The same set of security policies can be enforced over both wired and wireless networks. For increased flexibility, SonicPoints even allow for the dedication of one radio for wireless intrusion detection and prevention scanning to meet compliance mandates, while the other continues to support users.

Low TCO
By simplifying deployment, delivering single-pane-of-glass management for both wireless and security, and eliminating the need to purchase a separate wireless controller, the SonicPoint Series models drastically reduce the cost to add wireless into a network infrastructure.

Current Models
SonicPoint ACe: With dual radios, six external removable antennas, 802.11ac support and flexible power through either an 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) Injector or an AC adapter, the SonicPoint ACe adds secure, scalable, high-performance wireless LAN (WLAN) connectivity across the 5 GHz band with enhanced signal quality and range, simplified deployment, and ease of management.
SonicPoint ACi: Internally housed antennas, dual radios, 802.11ac support and the ability to receive power through an 802.3at PoE Injector enable the SonicPoint ACi to provide secure, high-performance yet discreet wireless LAN (WLAN) connectivity across the 5 GHz band with enhanced signal quality and range, simplified deployment, and ease of management.
SonicPoint N2: With dual radios, six external removable antennas, 802.11n support and the ability to receive power through an 802.3at PoE Injector, the SonicPoint N2 is a cost-effective secure, high-performance option for wireless LAN connectivity (WLAN) across the 2.4 GHz band with excellent signal quality and range, simplified deployment, and ease of management.
PoE Injector: The SonicWall PoE Injector is an IEEE 802.3at compliant power injector featuring an advanced auto-sensing algorithm that automatically detects the presence of PoE compatible devices and “injects” the appropriate power into the data cable. A plug-and-play device, the PoE Injector fits easily into wireless Ethernet infrastructures and requires no configuration or management.

High-Performance Wireless Connectivity: With support for the 802.11ac standard, the SonicPoint line can achieve the following data rates while maintaining a higher performance level at greater ranges.

  • SonicPoint ACe: Up to 1.3 Gbps
  • SonicPoint ACi : Up to 1.3 Gbps
  • SonicPoint N2 : Up to 450 Mbps
Flexible Deployment Options: All the SonicPoint models (ACe, ACi, and N2) can receive power from Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) cabling through an 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) Injector. As a plenum rated access point, the SonicPoint N2 can be safely installed in air-handling spaces, such as in or above suspended ceilings.

Excellent Signal Quality and Reliability:

  • SonicPoint ACe: The 802.11ac wireless standard operates in the 5 GHz frequency band, which is less prone to signal interference, thus enhancing signal quality. Dual radios, six external antennas and 3x3 MIMO result in more reliable wireless coverage.
  • SonicPoint ACi: The 802.11ac wireless standard operates in the 5 GHz frequency band, which is less prone to signal interference, thus enhancing signal quality. Dual radios, internal antennas and 3x3 MIMO result in more reliable wireless coverage.
  • SonicPoint N2: With dual radios and six external antennas plus support for up to four spatial streams and 3x3 MIMO, the SonicPoint N2 provides excellent signal quality and highly reliable wireless coverage.
Discreet Deployment Options: All SonicPoint models (ACe, ACi, and N2) come with dimmable LEDs (excluding power) that allow you to seamlessly fit into environments that need discreet wireless coverage. The ACi model also has internal antennas which means you can install it on the ceiling or on a wall like a smoke detector and still have it blend in with the rest of the room in a discreet manner.

The SonicPoint Series includes essential deployment, security and management capabilities that enable any organization to add high-speed wireless into a new or existing network.

Comprehensive Wireless Security: SonicPoint Series access points integrate tightly with SonicWall next-generation firewalls. Using Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) technology, these firewalls scan all inbound and outbound traffic on wired and wireless networks and eliminate malware and intrusions. This integration creates a secure wireless solution that delivers comprehensive protection.
Broad Standards and Protocols Support: With support for a wide range of wireless standards and security protocols (including 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WPA2 and WPA), the SonicPoint Series enables organizations to leverage prior investments in devices that are incapable of supporting higher encryption standards while easing migration to 802.11ac.



Virtual Access Point (VAP) Segmentation: The SonicPoint Series supports dedicated authentication and privacy settings by enabling the creation of up to eight service set identifiers (SSIDs), all sharing the same physical infrastructure. This provides logical segmentation of secure wireless network traffic from guest access.
Centralized Management: SonicPoints are automatically detected, provisioned and updated by the managing SonicWall SuperMassive, NSA or TZ Series firewall, and central WLAN administration is also handled directly from the firewall GUI.



Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention: Wireless intrusion detection and prevention scans the wireless network for unauthorized (rogue) access points and then the managing firewall automatically takes countermeasures to prevent connections to the device.
Wireless Guest Services: The wireless guest services feature enables administrators to provide internet-only wireless access for guest users. This access is separate from internal access and requires guest users to securely authenticate before access is granted.



Lighweight Hotspot Messaging: Extending the SonicWall wireless guest services model of differentiated internet access for guest users, lightweight hotspot messaging enables extensive customization of the authentication interface and the use of any kind of authentication scheme.
Granular Security Policy Enforcement: Administrators can implement firewall rules for all wireless traffic and control all wireless client communications to any device on the network. For an added layer of security, they can block communications between wireless devices on the same virtual access point.
